Personal Statement
Throughout my high school career I have experienced many leadership and character building events that made me the person I am today. Many of these occurrences were extra-curricular activities that I have been involved in while in high school. I was enrolled in Band my freshman year, then transferred to Percussion Ensemble for my remaining three years. Being in music since I was five has help me gain skills that taught me discipline and persistence, that has spread in every aspect of my life. By the end of my senior year, I have become leader of my Drum Corps class which helped me gain leadership skills. I am also involved in many clubs including: CSF(College Scholarship Fund), Key club, Club Ignite, and FBLA(Future Business Leaders of America). I am currently president of CSF, and have taken the role of setting up and executing the volunteer activities and trips. This has taught me management and communication skills, to be able to contact other foundations and teachers in order to set up different activities. Key Club has also got me involved in many community service events that help me help the public. I am also involved in my local youth group and church. I have gone to Bethel Church ever since I was born and have gone to Neighborhood youth group since sixth grade. These two churches have helped me get involved in feeding the poor, bell ringing and local events around the city. It has taught me to love and respect everyone no matter what their situation and has taught me commitment to church. I also went on a trip my sophomore year during the spring to Yosemite. The McConnell foundation puts it on and only a select few get in. I applied and was accepted, and joined a few other people from my school to take the trip down south. It was an amazing experience that taught me to respect, and hard work. I have also been involved in soccer, basketball, snowboarding and tennis in high school. I was captain of varsity soccer and tennis, it helped me gain leadership and hard work. I turned our team around from last year, my junior year, winning three games in our soccer season to getting second this year in section. In tennis I have been an all section player every year in singles and doubles. My junior year I was in the semis in sections in singles and double and rolled my ankle, which forced me to forfeit both since I couldnâ??t walk on it. This gives me the drive to play harder this year and do whatever it takes to play college tennis. Over summer I worked, trained and played at Sun Oaks every day. I was there eight hours a day training for college tennis in a squad called â??Collegiate trainingâ??. It helped me build time management to make it to work and training on time every day and commitment to dedicating my summer to tennis. I am ready to do and learn whatever it takes to play college tennis, and become the best player I can.
