Tyler Cabrera '25 Recruiting Profile

                My name is Tyler Cabrera and I have loved playing tennis since I was at the age of 2 years old. My dad’s side of the family has played tennis in high school and college. I also have the interest to try and play for college tennis at a highly competitive level. Since I have moved to Florida from Illinois in 2018, the switch was a little bit challenging for tennis and school, but I have learned to adapt. My first tournament back was very nerve wrecking, but I’ve found out that doing a lot of competitive tournaments was something that I liked. Academic wise, I have found my interest in computer science. I am hoping to follow through with academics and become successful in Computer Science.

            I think I am a good candidate for any college tennis team because I am very determined and that I always have a straight path to my success. Some other things might curve that path, but I’m willing to work as hard as I can to repave that path and get to the finish line. I am also respectful and have good sportsmanship. On a team, I respect my teammates or my opponents without a doubt. I’m good at communicating especially with my teammates and coaches. I’ll do whatever I can and even push to my limit so I can be successful.

            When on the court, I feel like my most powerful stroke is my forehand. I can generate a lot of power through my body so I can transfer it all to my shot. I also have good speed which is an advantage on the court. I can use the power in my legs and try to anticipate to any shot. Academically, I do my best to achieve excellent grades and still be athletic outside of school. I’m constantly in the Prinicpal's Honor Roll and I am also a member of the National Honor Society. Outside the court and school, I volunteer for “Tennis for Fun” which is a program to help people with disabilities play tennis. I also volunteer with Seeds of Hope and this past summer, I volunteered at Ronald McDonald House Charities and at Code Wiz Camp. I continue to improve and I’m hoping that I will get the chance to prove myself and get better every day.
