Nathan Huffman '11 Recruiting Profile

I have had a strong drive to play tennis ever since I started to take lessons at Score Tennis. I have been playing tennis for five years now and have achieved a level that has taken other players ten years to achieve. I learn and excel very quickly in tennis and have a very strong work ethic. I have worked extremely hard in the last few years and have proven that to all my coaches. In my freshman year I didn't make the high school team, and I resolved to strive to improve. In my sophomore year I did make the team, and I believe this experience has taught me to persevere and work hard to achieve my goals. I intend this attitude to overflow into all areas of my life; college, my career, and my personal life. In my junior year I played varsity and started on third doubles. I have continued to improve, and expect to play at a higher spot for my senior year. Prior to playing tennis in high school I played soccer for six years. I played midfield, a position needing endurance and speed. From my soccer experience I developed high athleticism, and I can run really fast, which proved to be very helpful in tennis. I love running and regularly run to keep up my endurance and quickness. All my coaches are amazed at my speed. I am 5' 9" and 140 pounds and keep myself in shape. I have no problems with injuries and have never broken a bone or injured a muscle in my life. I have performed in various clubs outside of high school; Score Tennis, Western Springs Tennis, and currently Oakbrook Racquet and Fitness Club. I would love to play tennis in college and will work hard and do whatever it takes in order to do so. I am looking for a college near a city, and that has a campus ministry. My desired major is automotive engineering and I would like to minor in business management. My athletic goals are to play all four years of college tennis with a high competition level, and I would like to be a player that coaches and other players will recognize as positive and uplifting.
