Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Daniel Blinov. I'm a Russian-born tennis player from all over the world, with an all-time high UTR of 11.75 and an all-time high ITF-J ranking of 458. 2023 was the year I reached my highest ranking, after starting the year with near zero points. I'm currently a student at Pratt Community College, finishing up the second semester of my first year here. I'm 6 foot 6 tall, and weigh 196 pounds.

I'm going to be blunt: I'm not satisfied with the volume of training, nor the quality of the practices. My entire life it's been me and my mother against the world, with me toiling day in and day out on the court to try and become a tennis player. I've always wanted to have a team behind my back, and I've always wanted to fight beside players of similar drive and yearning for improvement as myself, but here I genuinely feel like the only person ready to put more work in. Practices are short, low-quality, and the only way I've improved during my time here is through my separate efforts.

Yes, my UTR has dropped severely. Yes, my recent match results aren't impressive, nor good in any way. I've lost against players I would have beaten easily in the past, and I find myself losing a lot of confidence as a result of that. So why would adding me onto your team be a good idea? I'll tell you why.

It doesn't matter to me if I'm the weakest on the team, it doesn't matter to me if the practices are so hellishly difficult that my body cries out in pain and begs me to stop, I welcome such things with open arms. I'm not a hard worker, I'm the hardest worker. I've outgrown every tank I've ever been in, I'm a person with limitless potential and a boundless amount of will to make use of that potential. However, I need help. I can't do it alone, no matter how much I try. I need to practice, I need to play points with other players, and I need to play matches. If you can provide me with a truly good team and a good training regimen, I will become the best player you've ever met. This isn't a promise, it's a fact. I will do it, no matter how much time I have to spend sweating on the court to do so.
I've faced adversity, I've faced wars and I've faced death, yet I came out of it a stronger and better person. I've got what it takes, and I have the strength of character to make it happen. So let me prove it to you.
