There is a saying: ‘Don’t mix business with pleasure’. Well,I don’t agree with that. Because there is no better way to make your life better then to mix what makes you happy with something that you are inspired to do. In this case, that is attending college while playing tennis. Growing up it was hard for me to understand what is a priority and what is passion. I know that playing tennis in college is once in a lifetime opportunity that could absolutely change my life.
In the classroom,I always study to the best of my possibilites while keeping my 3.2 GPA average.Honestly, there is no subject that I really dislike, which makes studying a little easier.
I don’t have a school preference which means that every option is open.
Tennis has been my passion ever since I picked up a tennis racquet. That is all that I think about, how can I get myself to be better player than I was yesterday. Everyday on the court I give my all,and if I don’t give 100%,then I’m pretty hard on myself because I know that I just wasted opportunity to strive for greatness, which is something that’s on my mind daily. There is no off-season in my book, everyday is a working day. I love tennis,I enjoy every second of it.
Why would you pick me in a sea of players that are putting in the work daily, like myself? What separates me from others? Work ethic. Dedication. Henry Russell Sanders said that winning isn’t everything;it’s the only thing. That’s one of my mottos, but I believe the main thing that separates me from others is mental toughness. When I step on the court,I intend to leave it with that win. But when things are going wrong, you won’t see me with an bad attitude. That is something that has been hard for me to overcome, but now in my mind I’m only moving forward, not showing weakness to my opponent. I stay focused.
Ultimately,I’d like to find a college that will best fit my desire to win on a court and push me in the classroom to work hard as well. I hope to make great impact on my team and school while making proud everybody that stuck with me on my way to where I am today.
