My name is Evan Mann and I am a student athlete. It is my goal to one day play tennis at the collegiate level. I would love to attend a college or university where I can study Architecture or Engineering as well as play my favorite sport, tennis.
Tennis has always been a passion of mine. Tennis drives me to maintain excellence in school and on the court. I first picked up a tennis racket when I was 7 years old. Even though I was hitting the bigger red tennis balls as a 7 year old, I knew tennis was going to be in my life. Since that time, I have worked on honing my tennis skills in the areas of technique, mental strength and physical/explosive strength. With repetition of effective technique, I have become consistent in form and structure of play. I also train for tennis in the off season by swimming. This has proven to be a power asset to my tennis game. One of my biggest strengths to my tennis game is my mental ability. I am able to use imagery and visualization as well as attention and concentration when faced with adversity on and off the court.
I am a dedicated student athlete taking all Honors and AP classes. I am on an All Conference Leadership team which a select amount of student athletes are nominated to attend. I take part in activities that promote inclusion for all such as the Links Club and Buddy Up Tennis. I am an assistant coach on a softball team of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I love these opportunities because I am able to recognize that the world is bigger and greater than just my circle. I am someone who is dedicated, hard working, empathetic, takes and receives direction, and respectful. These qualities are evident during the school day and while I am working on the tennis court.
