Personal Statement
For as long as I can remember I have been passionate about the game of tennis. I have always been self-motivated every time I step onto the court. From the moment I participated at age 8 in tennis camps to my freshman year of high school tennis, I knew I wanted to play on a college team. I grew the most as a student-athlete when our team experienced its loss at States. I believed because I was number one singles as a freshman, I had an extra share of responsibility for our loss. Surprisingly, my teammates' response made me realize it takes the entire team's dedication and not just “one man” to overcome the challenges brought on the court.
From playing high school tennis, to watching college tennis, I've noticed it greatly differs from the USTA tournaments because it brings out the best of the sport in a “team” aspect. I’ve learned that I push harder when I know my teammates and I have each other's backs. However, I will always give my 100%, especially toward academics when trying to obtain all A’s with AP Classes. I'm looking forward to finding a college that will match my needs on and off the court.
