My collegiate goals and aspirations are to play on a team where I can learn and excel in the sport of tennis. I hope to one day play in a Grand Slam, but I understand I can't do that without learning and experience. My academic goals are to become a lawyer after doing a major in computer science. To reach my goals, I challenge myself to highest degree whether it be in athletics or academics. So far in high school, I have taken 5 AP courses and 9 honors courses. In my senior year, I will be taking 5 more AP courses and 2 dual enrollment courses. On my high school tennis team, I play varsity. I also compete on my own outside of school. I play at USTA tournaments and club tournaments at Frog Hollow Racquet Club.
I think my character really sets me apart from other players. I am first and foremost a good teammate. I am a great locker room presence and believe in leading by example. I believe in team success--whatever it takes to win. I love pushing myself and my team past our goals and aspirations. I believe in my team's potential and think the sky's the limit for any team I play for.
The reason why I play tennis isn't like many people. My interest in tennis stems from a belief in myself. Ever since I was young, I have been told what I cannot do. People said I would suck at academics--I proved them wrong. People said I was too skinny to play a sport--I proved them wrong. Now people doubt my ability to play tennis at a higher level. If you give me a chance, I will prove them wrong too.
