I was always a part of a successful program within my High School Track and Cross Country team. However, I never quite took it seriously. At the end of my junior year, I realized through my on-track performance and conversations with coaches that my unsteady commitment was not enough anymore; given that I was to be placed in a leadership role the next year as a senior. I like to say this is where my collegiate journey began. I began to train as hard as possible so I would represent my school in the best way in my last year there.
The work paid off. I captured the hearts of my teammates as Team Captain and the 4th scorer on my team for every race. I was looked up to and finally felt like I had found a spot within my sport. I learned the value of leaning on and learning from amazing people like my teammates and coaches. Finding out that I had a lot more in me that others saw, that I never did.
I was fortunate enough to have a Junior College offer me so that I could continue to pursue my newfound passion for Cross Country and Track. Now, I am striving to continue this dream by finding a new team to commit to and reach success with.
