My name is Alexander Johnson, I am 17 and I currently attend Rio Rico High School as a Senior in the class of 2023. I compete in Cross Country and Track and Field. I've been running Cross Country since my 6th grade year and I've done Track just this last year during my Junior year of High School but have been fond of the sport since I was little. I tried out everything in Track and I became attached to the Javelin Throw. That is currently my main event although I have competed in almost every running event including Sprints, Mid-Distance and Distance, having pretty good times in all of them. Growing up in Rio Rico and in a Mexican household has led me to develop very good Discipline, good work ethic, and overall the ability to hold responsibilities and respect all of those around me. Things that would make me different from other recruits is my overall sense of always wanting to improve myself and the people around me. Both in the classroom and on the course I always strive to be the best I can for myself, my teachers, my coaches and my peers. Although my GPA has not always been the greatest, I have devoted my time and effort to improve it so I can build a better future for myself and in athletics. As a coach once told me "There is no such thing as an Athletic Student, but only a Student-Athlete." This has always helped me keep my mind on the bigger picture and that is setting myself up for a better life, not just an Athletic career.
