Hello, my name is Jaelin Smith and I am an aspiring athlete in the men's sprints. I only had 3 years in track because my freshman year was covid but I’m taking this track season very seriously like I've been doing it my whole life. I wanna see how fast the human body can go and I wanna be one of the fastest athletes in the nation. I didn't have a chance to go to the Junior Olympics last year but this year is my year. I have a lot of goals for myself such as winning the indoor championship or getting close to it, beating my PRs, and having them get lower and lower. I was the top junior sprinter last year for track for my school and in 2022 I was named most outstanding sprinter for my high school.
Looking ahead, my long-term goals revolve around breaking records in my school's track and field program like the 4x1, 100, and 200m. I am driven by the desire to be a better person than my father, to push my limits, and strive for personal improvements.
As an athlete, I have a strong sense of self-motivation. I push myself even when I'm tired during a workout because I remember what I have to gain.
During the offseason, I've trained with multiple coaches right now. Currently, I'm training with Coach Biggs to improve my athleticism strength speed, and mental thought process for track.
Beyond my athletic pursuits, I've engaged in community service and leadership roles. I am proud to be part of the urban youth track club run by Coach Biggs. Urban Youth has helped me a lot with track and just pushing myself and reminding myself why I'm here. In practice, I help the younger kids with the workout if they don't understand something that we're doing or if our coach is busy.
I'm excited to bring my passion, dedication, and self-motivation to a collegiate program that values these qualities. I am eager to contribute both as an athlete and as an athlete-student within the team and the campus community. Thank you for considering me as a prospective member of your collegiate program.
