I’ve been playing sports since I can walk. Sports bring me energy, friendships and an opportunity to compete which I’ve enjoyed my whole life. Although I’ve participated in baseball, football, basketball, muay thai, soccer and more, I didn't start throwing until I was a sophomore in high school. As soon as I was introduced to throwing, I instantly knew it was the sport I wanted to focus on throughout high school and beyond.
Even though I didn’t start throwing until my sophomore year, I’ve consistently increased my distance in both shot and discus. My shot increased from 42’ to 49’ last season and discus from 98’ to 121’ despite not having a coach for the entire season. I was 2nd Team All-League for the 2023-2024 season and placed in most of those meets for shot, as well as some for discus on my way to CIF. This summer, I’ve been working hard to perfect the spin in both events. Through spinning, I’ve reached 151.5’ in discus in my daily practice sessions. I’m feeling more and more comfortable with spinning and am confident my PR for both events will continue to increase.
In regards to academics, I study hard and have maintained a 3.8 GPA throughout my high school career. I am an honor student along with being a scholar athlete. I was on the leadership council for football 2023-2024 season and this current season, as well as participating in Animal Aid Club at CVHS. I volunteer for various activities through football and track teams during the school year and provide volunteer swim lessons for children in my spare time. I strive to be a role model to peers, and to my community.
As I move through the college selection process, I am hoping to find a college that is rich with diversity, and located in an urban area. I will prioritize becoming an asset to the track and throwing program at my chosen college and am willing to put in the time, effort and practice that this will require. I am open to many college programs and ultimately seek to find a match for both my academic and athletic pursuits.
