My name is Alexander Maida. I’m sixteen years old, I live in Northridge, California, I am now a senior at Granada Hills Charter High School. I consider myself to be a hard worker, whether it’s in a classroom, in the outdoors, or even when I am just working on myself. I am a team worker, I care a lot about not only helping myself grow, but I also help my peers when they are in need of growth as well. I challenge myself to be the best. I will never settle for second, so I work to be first. I never imagined I would be throwing Shotput. In my freshman year, a friend of mine pushed me to show up to tryouts, then a few weeks later, I had seen that I made the team. I loved it, I also thought of the sport as an art of some sort. I’ve learned several different motions of how to throw, some great and some not so good, even when I saw that my throws were bad, I kept at it. I started last season at the bottom, then as I challenged my efforts, I became the only Varsity Boy to go to City Finals. This sport is my life, and I want something to show that all the countless hours of practicing and working out weren’t for nothing.
Thank you.
