My name is Farhaan Safi, and I am a junior at Northwood High School. My freshman year, my friends forced me into joining cross country, and had thoughts of quitting the sport. I was introduced to track, but my love for this sport started surfacing my sophomore year, as Covid limited me from this sport. After lettering in varsity my sophomore year, my coach switched me from sprints/jumps to the 800 meters, which I wasn't too sure of at first, but as the races went on, I grew a strong love for the event. My love for track continued to skyrocket this year, as I was able to shave off 9 seconds from my 800m PR, running a 1:58. It was also my first year running the 1600, and I ran a 4:32. Although I'm pretty satisfied with these times, I knew I could drop my times more, but I know I'll have one more year to do that.
