My name is Eric Parker. This will be my 3rd season competing in track and field. Last year, I placed 7th in the 400m at the California State Finals. I learned a lesson at the Arcadia Invitational earlier in the year that helped me at the state meet. Training has been going well and cannot wait to improve upon last years performance. This will also be the first year that I have dedicated my training solely to track, no football. Really thankful to have a great support group helping me prepare for the upcoming season.
My desire to prepare and compete at my highest level is what makes me a great candidate for the program/coach that has a need for me on their team. Athletically, preparing, competing, improving, and winning, both individually and as a team is a top priority in my life. I also have aspirations of representing my country in international competition.
Academically, I will be pursuing a degree in kinesiology and exercisesciences. There is also an interest in exploring registered dietician programs. Why? I understand the value of a clean diet, and how my performance will be affected by what goes into my body. These fields of study closely relate to each other, and will give me a deeper understanding of sport performance. It will be something that I will explore more with my family. I am currently responsible for shopping for food, cooking my meals in the morning, packing my meals for the day, and creating a dinner for my family a couple of times per week. It is all part of the recovery process. My senior project is cooking a multi course "authentic jamaican" meal.
I cannot tell you what makes me different than all the other recruits, never gave it any thought. My dad would say something like, "Son you are only special to your family, to everyone else you're just one of many. Stand up on your name, add value to your group, impress people with your work ethic/willingness to learn, and don't quit." I'm just going to work hard to improve, become really good, and have fun doing it! Look forward to working with you coach!
