Hi, my name is Pedro Ferreira de Abreu.
I recently moved to the United States to pursue my dream of becoming a competitive track and field athlete and excelling in academics. This is my first season training and competing in the U.S., and I’m thrilled to focus on middle-distance events like the 800m for the first time in my career.
Back in Brazil, my training was primarily distance-oriented, with a strong emphasis on longer races. I had little experience in the 800m, racing it only twice this season and improving dramatically from 2:03 to 1:55. Despite minimal preparation, I discovered my potential in middle-distance running, and next season, I’m committed to unlocking it fully with dedicated training.
So far, the transition has been incredible. I’m learning to balance speed and endurance while adapting to new training methods, pushing myself to reach my goal of excelling in the 800m and mile. I’m eager to see how much I can grow with the opportunities and resources available here.
Off the track, I’m equally passionate about STEM. I plan to pursue a career in software engineering, where I can combine problem-solving with creativity. I’ve always enjoyed challenging myself academically, and I’m excited to study in an environment that values both intellectual and athletic growth.
I’m looking forward to joining a program where I can contribute to a strong team culture, continue improving as an athlete, and grow academically. Let’s achieve great things together!
