A haiku about me:
Military kid
A runner and musician
Restart, adjust, grind
I remember running a 28 minute, 35 second 5k in 7th grade. The amount that I've grown in the past 4 years is just incredible to me. Ever since I started competitively running last year, I've never looked back. I love the grind of putting in the miles and speed work. I love the early mornings and staying at school until 6 in the evening. I love running.
Over the summer, my coach has a challenge for everyone who wants to participate, and it's to run 500 miles. We have from June 1st to August 31st to get the 500 miles. Everyone wanted to run all of those miles, but only 3 people ended up actually doing so. I was one of those 3. I ran every single day besides Sundays, often running 7 or 8 miles each day. I had to put more miles in at the beginning of the summer because marching band was from 9 am to 6 pm in the first 2 weeks of August, making it difficult to do both. I ran my 500th mile on August 31st. There was another challenge over the winter months, and it was to run 250 miles between December and January. I got to my 250th mile on January 13th.
That is what separates me from everybody else. I'm willing to put in the effort. I am very determined to meet and exceed the goals I set for myself. Most people are all talk no action, I'm the complete opposite of that.
I strive to keep my grades at an A every semester. It is very difficult with my busy schedule, but I set time aside to work on my homework and other academic goals. I stay on top of my homework; I am not a procrastinator.
Since my dad is in the military, I've had to move several times in my life. It is heartbreaking to leave a place where you made friends you love, but this experience has made me very adaptable. I can thrive anywhere, because I've had to adapt and make new friends everywhere I've moved. I am willing to put myself out there, because I know what will happen if I don't. You will have very few friends and very few people that can be there for you if you need help. Adaptation is essential in new situations.
My goals are to do and be the best person I can be. I have been more conscience of the food I've been eating, and I've tried to get more rest. I am going to put myself in the best possible position so I can strive to be better. If I do this, everything else will fall into place.
