Hi, my name is Luca Martin and I am currently a Junior at George Steinbrenner High School in Lutz, FL. I am an aspiring college athlete and have a passion for running cross country.
I started running cross country in middle school and quickly grew to love the sport. I enjoy running with friends and teammates and I am driven and highly motivated to grow and become a more successful runner. I’ve put in the time and hard work at improving and have grown tremendously in my times each year. I know I will only continue to improve over my senior year.
Growing up as the son of a military 24-year veteran has really shaped my character and formed me into the disciplined, driven and hard-working person I am. I work hard and I don’t quit. My team and my academics are very important to me.
My accomplishments on the team speak to my growth as a runner. This season I’ve taken home three championships. On 8/31/24, I started off the season with a 1st place finish at the Whispering Pines Invitational. On 10/22/24, I took 1st place and achieved a personal best of 15:21 at the Hillsborough County Championships. Then the following week, I became the District champion at the 4A District 6 XC Championships in Tampa, FL.
My college goals are to compete in a cross country and track program at the Division 1 level while also pursuing my academic goals. I believe my drive and work ethic along with the love for the sport will make me a valuable addition to your team.
