I've loved track and field since I started competing at age 6. My greatest strengths include intelligence, athleticism, and work ethic. I work exceptionally hard to ensure that my physical abilities are the best they can be, and constantly work to improve my athleticism. From daily stretching at home to improve flexibility, working in the weight room, and doing sprint and agility drills on the track, I work to improve my speed and power every day.
Currently I'm focusing on the 60m, 100m, 200m, and long jump. Over the years I've strived to shave tenths and hundredths of seconds off my times to qualify for New Balance Indoor Nationals and Junior Olympics, and earned a 4th place medal in the 2019 FHSAA championship meet in the 4x100m as a freshman, contributing to the 2nd fastest time in school history. Recently, I also broke the school 100m record with a time of 10.83. I plan to improve that time and also break school long jump record before I graduate.
Although it's not outwardly apparent, I've also faced adversities on the road to success, such as being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 7. I overcome any challenges this condition poses by daily keeping a strong mental outlook, managing it responsibly, and believing I can accomplish all of my aspirations. I remain thankful for my God-given abilities.
I offer my talents, strong leadership through example, an inspiration to work, knowledge of training principles, and an ethical moral compass. Thank you for reading my statement and for considering me as a future member of your team.
