Personal Statement
My journey in track and field started in 2011 at the Bermuda Inter-School Sports Competition. After two consecutive years of winning the 100m Dash without any formal training, I began to train with D.A.S.H. track club to cultivate my abilities. Following two successful years with the track club, in 2014, I moved from Bermuda to Barbados in order to gain exposure to a more competitive environment. This exposure has made me a competitive individual who strives to excel in all aspects of life. Consequently, I have become a very disciplined and balanced individual, developed very good work ethic, and learned the benefits of perseverance. As a result, the 2015 season was extremely rewarding. At the 2015 Russel E. Blunt E.C.I., in the 13-14 age group, I won the 100m and 200m with colossal new personal bests (11.16, 22.54). While there, I also received the Most Valued Athlete award for my age group. In August 2016, I moved to Orlando, Florida in an effort to gain access to better coaching and academic opportunities. Eventually, I desire to run track at a Division I school with a strong academic background and excellent coaching as I hope to pursue a professional career in athletics. I wish to use my collegiate experience to learn from experienced personnel about the sport and their own experiences to ensure I develop into a prosperous senior athlete.
