Personal Statement
I am entering my senior year at Astoria High School in Astoria, Illinois (pop 1300). I am a multi sport athlete who competes in football, basketball, and track. We are a 1A co-op sports program called the South Fulton Rebels. I have been participating in sports ever since the third grade with traveling basketball, JFL football, and various camps. My 8th grade year, I decided to give track a chance to keep me in shape for the off season. I was a little hesitant at first, but once I got started I instantly fell in love with the sport and High Jumping. That year in 8th grade, I ended up getting 1st place in my sectional in High Jump and placing 2nd as well in the 4x400 meter relay. After that, I advanced to state and placed 9th in High Jump. It was such an amazing feeling to be able to achieve so much in my first year in Track. Ever since then, I have been very passionate about jumping and setting new goals for myself to make it back to State and also break our High School High Jump record of 6'2". I have been working very hard to be able to achieve my future goals. I am a dominate left handed athlete and I jump off my right foot and use an 8 step approach to the pit. I have been increasing my heights each season by 3 to 4 inches and plan to keep increasing as the years go by thanks to hard work and an amazing coach. My coach gives me the confidence I need to set my goals and be the best I can be. He is also a huge role model to me because he used to be a 6'11" High Jumper and Decathlon runner in College and I highly respect him. I have always been a very smart and coachable athlete who has confidence, work ethic, and a positive head on my shoulders. I truly would love the opportunity to be able to take my talent and ability to the next level and get a great College education.
