2017 HighlightsDear Mr/Mrs Coach!
I am excited and humbled that you are taking the time to ready my profile on NCSAS website. As you may already know, I am currently a Senior at Harvest Christian Academy in Elgin, IL. Ours is a small Christian school where I also attend as a member of Harvest Bible Chapel, a nondenominational Christian school lead by Pastor James McDonald's. (I tell you it is quite a honor that I get Pastor McDonald's as a teaching pastor during our weekly student Chapel service! Preaching without Apologies!). I feel quite blessed here. If I had to choose which area of my life have I grown more while at Harvest Christian Academy, I would have to say, by far, my walk with Christ, my spiritual growth and my friends.
Funny story how I started my cross country career...I had played basketball and baseball since 8 years old. I joined Harvest in 8th grade. Our athletic director, David Lockwood is quite a force of energy. I played both sports for Harvest as expected and enjoyed both tremendously.
Then in 8th grade he asked me to also join the Soccer team and I did. Uff that was tons of fun and my mom and friends got to witness a whole new level of speed (smiling). While soccer was tons of fun and I was fastest to get to ball not necessarily was I that great at playing with my toes and ankles in glorious ways...I did score some goals and helped my team and school as I was asked. Being a 3 sports athlete was a blast. While being a Sophomore, we had just finished losing sectionals with our soccer team. HCA Coach Steven Bland then invited me to join cross country at the last jv open conference race before Regionals of the season. He gave me an uniform, Michael Sisko, a phenomenal cross country teammate, lend me his spikes (one size too big...LOL) and I went and ran my very first race ever. I FELL IN LOVE. PERIOD THE END....(uh just kidding let me tell you a bit more about this joyful ride I've experienced since)...haha.
From that race I went straight to attend my 1st ever IHSA Regionals, Sectionals and making it to State in 2015 in 65th place!
The following Summer I injured my ankle playing basketball and spend the summer and Track season in a miserable boot :( Then started training for the 2016 Cross country season enjoying helping my team to 2016 Regionals, Sectionals and State where I was honored to make see my team win the State championship and make it to 55TH place.
I did enjoyed a full track season for 2017, and almost a full season of xc training except for 12 days of missed training 5 weeks away from the big day, due to a minor bruised on my ankle. After XRays, ankle brace and therapy I jumped right back into full training mode 2.5 weeks prior to State. I am very happy with our results, our Team got 3rd place at 3rd and I was able to make it to 26th place!
I have enjoyed tremendously my experience playing sports at Harvest Christian, and I am still playing basketball as the Captain of my team this year. And despite how much I love playing basketball, I can tell you I AM JUST AS thrilled to run cross country and track and field!
I am looking forward to joining a competitive team in college. I am very team oriented and very competitive. I want to study Business Administration with a major in Accounting, Investments and/or Marketing; but above all, I want to represent Jesus Christ thru my faith, words, and actions. I am looking forward to meeting with you and the team soon!
Blessings!
