2019 HighlightsColin Fitzgerald. From my closest of friends to classmates I barely know, most of these people would think of one thing when they hear my name; running. They don’t just know me for running in Cross Country and Track, they know me for being Cross Country and Track. I love these sports, for what they are and what they can be. Everyday that I run I feel like I mean something. I feel like I can be someone. I feel like I can make a difference. I am very passionate about running. I run not only for my coach, but for my friends, my family, my school, and most importantly, myself. But please don’t mistake my enthusiasm as care free. I am serious about running, and it hasn’t always been easy. Throughout my career from my first 5k at age nine to my current junior track season as of this time of writing, I have worked hard and suffered a number of injuries. But, as you likely know, running isn’t only physical, it’s also mental. All those tough workouts and heartbreaking injuries have toned my body and mind into what they are now. Any mountain can be climbed, any hurdle can be cleared, and any time can be reached if you have the right mindset. This is what I have learned and embodied after all those miles. What drives me to continue is the desire for improvement and to achieve a better me everyday. I will continue to work hard and improve myself and teammates as long as I am able, because there is always room for improvement. This is why I am a great pick for your Cross Country and Track teams. I will do the best I can and be the best I can be for myself and your school.
