No matter what I am doing, I am 100% committed to that task. If I have to train to get faster or jump farther, I will put all of my energy towards what I need to do. The same applies to my academics. I study for as long as I can in order to learn all that I can and be successful in school. The main thing that I love about track is the atmosphere of competitions. Everyone is going towards the same goal, towards the same finish line, so that makes it a much friendlier atmosphere in my opinion. There will still be rivalries, and I've had a few myself, but you get to know who you're racing and become friends with them. At the end of the day, everyone is congratulating everyone for their effort and their times.
When I am training with my teammates, I don't yell at them or be aggressive in trying to motivate them. I try to encourage them and give them tips, trying to lead by example. I believe that that is the most effective form of motivation, and that showing how something needs to get done helps to bring my teammates farther than just telling them to something differently.
I want to continue my track career in college because not only do I love the competition and getting to know other people, but because it helps to keep me focused. I have lots of energy, and by playing sports, I can channel it into something that I am successful at and enjoy. It is my dream to be a collegiate athlete like my parents, so that I can continue to do what I love.
