My name is Austin Sikora, a senior at Rockford Lutheran High School in Rockford, Illinois where I am a part of the Varsity Football and Track team. I am also a member of the Illinois Jets Track Club. Life has provided me many blessings in my high school career which include being a State Finalist my freshman, sophomore, and junior year, Sectional Champion my junior year in both the 100m and 200m, 5th in State in the 4x1 relay as a sophomore, and being voted a track captain for 3 years. Most recently, I qualified for and will be running at the AAU Jr. Olympics which will be held at Drake University July 25th - Aug 2nd. However, my proudest moment came during my junior year of football. I received the highest honor a player on the team can achieve; a dog tag. The dog tag represents a fallen hero killed in the line of duty. With the blessing from the family, the tag is given to an athlete who is drug and alcohol free, works hard every day, and is an exceptional teammate and leader both on and off the field. It symbolizes respect, courage, responsibility, and selflessness. It is a true honor to wear the dog tag and represent someone as honorable as the men and women who serve our country and local communities. As an individual, I strive to be a role model and lead by example. I will continue to work hard my senior year and pursue my goal of running track at the collegiate level and receiving an exceptional education.
