What sets me apart from other athletes is the level of discipline and commitment I apply to all aspects of my life: running, community involvement, proctorship, and, most importantly, my academics. Running is one of the tools that I use to consistently challenge myself. I learn from the obstacles I encounter along the way.it taught me the importance of resilience. Although it's difficult to constantly run due to limited resources in my high school, my desire to become the best version of myself drives me to switch gears. I look up to Justin Knight and Mo Speed. Knowing the effort and the hard work I've put to reach where I am today drives me to excel to do whatever it takes to make my mother proud.
It is human nature to never fully "arrive"; there is always something further to strive toward. Going out for 10-15 km easy runs with six strides every day,and reflecting on how challenging it was, is my normal afternoon.
At the end of my sophomore year, I ran the 5k distance in 19:48. After training twice a day for just one quarter of my junior year, I completed the 5k in 16 minutes, breaking my own record by three minutes. I am eager to join a community that provides a platform for me to pursue my academic and athletic goals. I am looking for a team that is committed to helping one another succeed.
