Bernhardt Fourie '14 Recruiting Profile

I am Bernhardt Fourie, a South African athlete who turned 18 on the 4th of July 2014. I am currently in Helpmekaar Kollege and will be graduating the 15th of October 2014, after which I'm planning to start college/university in January 2015(Spring semester). I am a track athlete, specializing in sprints. I earned honors in Track all four years in high school and lettered twice, in 2011 and 2013 when I participated in the South African National Track Championships, placing 5th in 2013 in the 200m. I have also lettered in Rugby in 2012 and honored in Adventure Racing(Orienteering) also in 2012. I captained a team of 20 elite South African Athletes on an European Athletics Tour in which I ran 14 races, won 13 and placed second in the remaining one. At one meet I also ran the fastest time for my age in Belgium that year. I also captain my schools' athletics team, managing over 70 high school athletes(all ages and both genders) and lead us to overall team victory in the three most prestigious track events my country has to offer, namely: Top 10(86 schools), Top 15(43 schools) and Super 16 (Group A - 8 best Track schools). I am not just an athlete though, I also have a GPA of 3.78 and I have received numerous awards such as "Best Achievement in English", "Best Achievement in History and Geography" and I have been placed on the Honor roll for placing 3rd in my state with the World General Knowledge Olympiad. The only preferences I have with colleges/universities are that financial aid or full scholarships are an option for me, and the college/university should have a decent track program and host pre-medicine.
