Going into my junior year of high school, I decided that lacrosse and baseball just weren't for me and that I wanted to join the track team in the upcoming spring sports season. I was unsure of what events I would do but I knew I wanted to try pole vaulting. I picked up the basics very quickly when the season started and in the first couple of meets, I already jumped 9 feet. I was mostly teaching myself everything from YouTube videos because I had little coaching. At the Western Maine Conference meet I landed 9,6” securing 1st place and qualification to go to states, where I improved my height to 10,6” in only one week. In only 5 weeks since vaulting for the first time I had learned so much. I am now starting practice at the patriot pole vault club to improve my height as much as possible going into college.
