PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have been running track for 3 years now, and it has become one of my biggest passions. Ever since I crossed the finish line in my first race, I have aspired and dreamed of running at the collegiate level. I understand that running for a college or university is a once in a lifetime opportunity, one that I would never take for granted.
I have a very high running IQ, having competed in a number of tactical races. My Determination on and off the track has assisted me in winning races and improving my times over the past few years. My work ethic is second to none, as I am always pushing myself to my absolute limit every time I train. I have become a very coachable athlete, assisting my coach in running practices and passing on my experience and skills to the younger athletes on my team. Additionally, my stride has improved tremendously since I stepped foot on the track, being described by my coaches as "he makes it look effortless". I work for greatness, always putting in 110% effort, and I'm confident that I am one of the hardest working athletes you will find.
I condition myself all year round, running during the off season, and participating at a functional performance training facility that works on my muscular strength as well as my endurance. I participate in all 3 seasons of High School sports, which include soccer, indoor track, and outdoor track. I also went through 7 years of martial arts training which taught me discipline and strengthened me mentally. I believe that experiences in other sports other than Track and Field have contributed to my athleticism more than just one singular sport would.
Outside of athletics, my strong diligence in the classroom has helped me maintain a high GPA, consistently make high honor and honor rolls, and be inducted into the National Honors Society. I was named 1st and 2nd team SWCL (Southern Worcester County League) all-star multiple times throughout my track career. I have volunteered to be a coach for Top Soccer, which is a recreational sports program for children and adults with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities.
I want to attend a college where I can not only push myself with my athletics but my academics as well. I am willing to seek out all opportunities that come my way, and I want to find the best College or University that matches my skills while also having a high level of competition. It is my goal to become a great role model to all my peers, and everyone in my community. I hope that I have portrayed to you why I am a great candidate for your institution.
