Personal Statement

One of my many goals is to continue running track in college. I have been running Track and Field at my school since freshman year. I dedicate my life to track during and off season. I have qualified for Divisionals freshman, sophomore, and junior year. I have been the leading scorer on my team since freshman year. This season in Outdoor I scored 64 points alone. Because of that, my coaches awarded me with the MVP award in my Junior year for both Outdoor Track 2015 and Indoor Track 2015. My coaches named me captain as a junior for both Indoor and Outdoor track because of my strong leadership skills and dedication to the sports. This makes me different because I am captain of two sports as a junior in high school. I am also going to be captain again next year my senior year for Outdoor and Indoor Track. I was awarded the TVL (Tri Valley League) All Star in my junior, sophomore, and freshman year for Outdoor Track. I was award the TVL All Star in my junior and sophomore year of Indoor Track. I broke four school records in Indoor track for the 55m dash, 55m hurdles, 4x200m, and 45m dash. I recieved certificates and ribbons. I also earned academic awards as well. This year I was awarded the American Literature Award for my English class. English is one of my favorite subjects and I am challenging myself by taking the most challenging courses at my school for English.  Next year I will be taking AP Literature. In 2014 I recieved the ceramics award. When I am not training for track or studying for school, I like to do art in my free time. Sculpture and drawing is one of my other hobbies I enjoy doing. I am in AP Art this year and focusing on sculpture. Another thing that makes me unique, me and three friends started an Anti-rape nonprofit organization called SWEAR (Stand With Everyone Against Rape). We started this organization because one of our close friends was raped her freshman year at college. We dedicated that we needed to take charge and teach young men and women how to SWEAR. We organized an assembly with our class on the topic and taught them what rape was and how to stop and prevent it. Next year we are working on spreading SWEAR to other schools. We made a video for SWEAR that will be on Cronicle Channel 5 airing soon. I am most definitely bringing SWEAR with me to college. I have also been on three hiring commitees at my school. I worked with faculty members to evaluate new teachers and gave them tours around the campus. I was also on the School Start Time Commitee. Our school was contemplating whether or not we change the school start time. We decided not to change the time.

Academic Accomplishments

Are you in honor classes?
Yes. I am in honors Chinese and honors Physics. I love both of the classes. Chinese is a very beautiful language and it can be difficult at times, but it is manageable. I have an excellent teacher that helps me when I am lost. Physics can also be challenging at times, but again I have an excellent teacher that helps me when the material is too challenging.
Are you in AP/IB classes?
Yes. AP Art: It is a very layer back class. I have a lot of freedom to do what I want in that class as long as it is sculpture.
Registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center?
No

Awards and Activities

  • AwardsI was awarded the American Literature Award. English is one of my favorite subjects. I really enjoy reading and writing. I would not mind minoring in English for college.
  • ActivitiesStage crew. I was on the stage for two plays: Crucible and Grease. I am in a nonprofit organization called SWEAR (Stand With Everyone Against Rape). We started this anti-rape organization to raise awareness of rape at the high school level and to stop it from spreading.
