Hi my name is Bryce Botelho and I am a multi sport senior at Hingham High School.
When I was young I was always told that I should run since I was always fast on my feet. I started out with winning kids 1K fun runs, Falmouth Track Club 9/10 age group 3K Cross Country Regional Championship Maine and 5k road races such as Screech the Beach, Jolly Jaunt, which I was always in the top 3. Once I got to middle school, I decided to play soccer and basketball full time so I gave up running, but was excited to return my freshman year.
As a freshman, I played both soccer and basketball and was excited to run spring track. Unfortunately, COVID-19 shut my season down.
Sophomore year, I played soccer for the high school as well and then decided to run winter track, which was held outdoors. We had 5 Virtual meets, won the Patriot League Keenan Division and Patriot League Championship. I had a season best 300 of 39.0 and 600 of 1:33.2. At the Championship Meet I had 300 of 38.9 and 4X400 of 3:50 (anchor) which took 2nd place.
My spring season sophomore year I was named Patriot League ALL-Star 400 52.0. 12th All Time in HHS History. 200 24.04 4X400 3:29.25- 1st place. 6th ALL Time in HHS History. 200 24.04 4X400 3:29.25-1st place. 6th ALL Time in HHS History. MIAA D1 Championship 4x400 3:29.95-3rd place. MIAA ALL STATE MEET 4X400 3:32.95 16th place
As a junior I ran at the Reggie Lewis Track Center-indoor
HHS Indoor won The Patriot League Championship wherein my 4X400 came in first and I was the the anchor.
At the MSTCA Division 2 relays, again I anchored the winning the 4X400. In the race, I took the baton tied for fourth and ended up winning the event. We also came in third in the 4X200, where I ran the third leg.
At the MSTCA State overalls, I ran third leg in 4X200 which finished 10th 1:34.17 and anchor the 4X400 which finished 13th 3:35.5, my split was 51.45 and I recorded splits of 51.00
We qualified for NIKE NATIONALS in the 4X200 and 4X400
I love being part of my HHS track team and was named captain for 2022/2023. I feel I am a good candidate as I run both individual and relay events. I feel my versatility, as shown by my ability to run the 200, 300, 400, 600 and 800 competitively, when asked by my coaches, sets me apart from other recruits. I also feel my academics achievements, which include A averages in Chinese, Calculus and Physics make me stand out. Socially, I feel my playing clarinet and bass clarinet since 5th grade, and most importantly volunteering to work with special needs children in the Hingham SNAP program help me to stand out.
