My name is Maurice Powe and I've been playing sports my entire life. I love pushing myself and learning from games, races, plays, because everything helps build us into better people in the future. I believe that college is about taking risks sometimes and breaking out of our comfort zones, and I feel like sports really have helped me understand that aspect of life, which is why I wish to continue playing in college. However, my main dream would be to run track at one of your facilities. I love to compete against myself, pushing for personal records every meet. However my deeper love of track is running my favorite event, the 400 hurdles. I love running this race primarily because people don't run it because they find it too "hard". But I took the chance and decided to continue at it, and I've learned to build a bond to the race. It's symbolic in a way, life is going to have hurdles, but the question is whether or not you'll take the risk and attack them, or stay behind and never advance.
