Personal Statement

I am currently am a sophomore at Sharon High School in Sharon MA. I started running in my freshmen year of high school, and I quickly found my passion for this sport. My freshmen year, I wasn't the fastest runner on my team. I ran a 19:45 5k my freshmen year, and I kept working hard every day to get better at running. My hard work and determination was the cause of my improvement in time by almost 3 min, and this hard work is something that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Now, I am working even harder to win big meets like divisionals, and qualify for more National Races. Academically, I am very focused and hardworking. I am a Honor roll Student for all years of high school, and I am also in NHS. I hope to run in college to continue my running endeavors, and continue to achieve my running goals now and in the future.

Awards and Activities

  • AwardsNHS, Honor Roll, MVP, 3 time league all star, 2 time rookie of the year. 4th at Divisional's as a sophomore in indoor. Top 20 sophomore in the US for the 1000. I also have a startup solar company awaiting patent approval, and has already received 5k+ of funding.
  • ActivitiesRobotics Instructor Jul 2023 - Present IFSI-USA Immigrant Family Services Institute, Inc., Boston MA ● IFSI is a non-profit, based in Mattapan, Massachusetts. It serves immigrants, mostly Haitians, through advocacy, basic material needs, help accessing resources, and educational programs for children, youth, adults, and families. ● I taught a robotics, and coding class during the summer to a wide variety of students. Our curriculum used lego EV3 robots, and block coding. Introduction to Computer Science With Python Jun 2023 - Aug 2023 Harvard, Boston MA I learned: ● The principles and practices of programming using a methodology that places a high value on programs that not only generate the "right answers," but that are also easy to read, maintain, and modify. ● How the Internet works ● Simulation and modeling through Monte Carlo methods ● Program execution time ● Data visualization ● Basics of "machine learning" and artificial intelligence ● Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) Introduction to Entrepreneurship Harvard, Boston MA Jun 2023 - Aug 2023⠀ ● Completed a rigorous and experiential course on the fundamentals and best practices of creating and scaling a successful, high-impact entrepreneurial venture. ● Applied human-centric design and lean/agile methodologies to identify and validate customer needs, value propositions, business models, and market opportunities. ● Worked with a startup, Sol-clarity, that provides solar-cleaning methods using electrostatic repulsion. ● Helped Sol-clarity explore new business models and markets. ● Conducted customer interviews, market research, and financial projections to test and refine the venture's assumptions and hypotheses. ● Collaborated with a team of four peers, and mentors using effective communication, feedback, and project management skills. ● Presented the team's findings and recommendations to Sol-clarity's founders, mentors, and Harvard professors in a professional and persuasive pitch. Co-Founder and CEO Entrepreneur Dec 2022 - Present⠀ TiE Young Entrepreneurs, Boston MA ● Created a startup that got second in the world in the TiE young entrepreneurs pitch competition, and secured over 5k in funding as well as 20 letters of intent to buy the product. ● Prototyped a product that cools solar panels ● Developed and designed a app that controls features of the cooling system. ● Implemented a business model that involved starting by selling to residential homeowners, and then transitioning to a business to business model. ● Established a feasible plan to bring the product to market by targeting solar homeowners and the wealthier population. Volunteer Nov 2022 - Present Our Daily Bread Mansfield's Food Pantry, Mansfield MA ● Built close interpersonal relationships with the patrons and fellow volunteers through engaging in conversations and storytelling. ● Stocked shelves, organized bags, carried out food to patrons' cars, and picked up fresh produce from local farms Arduino® Prototyping Jul 2021 - Aug 2021 Johns Hopkins CTY, Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth (CTY) ● Discovered what a digital prototyping platform can accomplish for creating devices that undertake tasks such as reading data from a sensor or activating lights based on motion and proximity. ● Using an Arduino® microprocessor, a breadboard, and a sensor and actuator kit, I explored existing prototypes, learned to modify code, and adapt designs to fit their needs. I made a final project prototype during the pandemic to address the problem of washing hands. Game of Life: The Theory of Strategic Behavior Jul 2021 - Aug 2021 Johns Hopkins CTY, Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth (CTY) ● Studied game theory through experiments, competitions, mathematical analysis, and debate, and applied game theory to model, evaluate, and predict outcomes of strategic behavior in the real world. ● Conducted a final research project in which I modeled and analyzed a real-world strategic interaction. I made a final presentation on the game theory of the NFL draft. I talked about Pareto Optimal picks, Nash equilibrium of teams, and used backwards induction to find the optimal pick for the teams. ● By engaging in simulations, problem sets, collaboration, and independent research, I gained the ability to describe prototype games like the Prisoner's Dilemma and Stag Hunt; explain formal concepts such as players, strategies, payoffs, dominance, backward induction, and equilibrium; identified and evaluated Nash equilibria of simultaneous and sequential games; and model and analyze real-world strategic interactions as formal games.
