2018 HighlightsMy name is Eric DeLorenzo, I’m a Senior at King Philip High School in Wrentham MA and I absolutely love to run. At age 10 I ran my first 5K and it was then that I knew cross-country and track were going to be a big part of my future. Through middle school I couldn’t wait until high school where I could compete in an organized league, and I was determined to be the best I could be when entering my freshman year. That determination paid off when I made the varsity cross-country and winter track team as a freshman. Running to me is so much more than just a competition or a way to stay in great shape. It’s a way of life and it’s helping me to personally develop on many levels. For example, I missed spring track freshman year due to a hamstring injury and that was one of my first athletic experiences of disappointment. But I decided it wasn’t going to bring me down so once I healed, I dedicated that summer before sophomore year to battle back. Through a routine of tempos, hills, and speed workouts I discovered a mental and physical toughness I didn’t know I had. It built a confidence level in me that is driving me to succeed as a competitive runner, as a student, and as an active community contributor.
In addition to cross-country, winter and spring track, what I really enjoy doing is learning. I take interest in all of my classes, especially math and sciences. My GPA is currently a 3.3 and I am in all Honors level and AP classes. I also have a part-time job and I am very active in my church where I am an altar server and Eucharistic minister. I am also a member of Catholics In Action, a group of teen community service members who do service projects for those in need.
Thank you to everyone who is taking the time to read this and get to know me. It is a dream of mine to compete at the collegiate level and I appreciate you considering me for your program.
Sincerely,
Eric DeLorenzo
