William VanderBor '23 Recruiting Profile

I started running because, simply put, I love to run.  At a younger age while playing travel soccer, I realized that I had  natural speed and decided to simultaneously join my middle school cross country team.  During middle school, I became more dedicated to the sport of running . I decided  to focus on running as my sport  of choice. The love of running  compels me to continue to improve, grow and compete at the High School level and eventually continue to the College level . I have been a top runner for my team since 6th grade and have pushed myself far beyond my limits of mental and  physical pain. Being one of the best on the team comes with responsibilities.  I try my best to encourage  my teammates to keep up with me during a workout or a meet.  I will give whatever it takes to become the best and grow as a runner physically and mentally at any level earned. I am very close to getting on the top 10 best times at my high school. I am different from other recruits because I am willing to better myself in workouts and meets even if people say I cannot. I fight to be in the pack of runners that may be better than me. I do this because I know if I can hold on as long as it takes I will earn a good time and placement in a meet. I hope that my legacy at Paw Paw will influence others younger than me to push themselves just as hard. I have a 3.61 GPA.  I am currently working on getting all A's for my senior year.
