2022 Spotlight
2022 Spotlight #2I want to run in college level track and field, that is the bare bones of it. When I was fresh out of kindergarten, with an advanced understanding of shapes and colors, I formulated a dream. Although now I know that dream isn't tailored for me, it has shaped my current goals for the future. I wanted to be the fastest man in the world; into the beginning of my teen years I realized it was a tad farfetched. This made me wonder about dreams and aspirations. I then theorized dreams often sprout from the ignorance and lack of understanding in young children. The idea morphed my dream into something similar but more 'specialized' for me. I want to win. I want to win every time. As I settled after shuffling around trying to find my talents, I chose the 800. I want to win at the 800. My goal is far away, I will not win every time. But the desire to win means the desire to better myself, I want to improve, I want to achieve a level I before never thought possible. Ultimately, I want to inspire. I want to race on the television; I wish I will inspire. I wish for a brief moment in time, in the mind of some child with a lack of an understanding, to look at me and mutter, "That's the fastest man in the world". I want to show people that their dreams are worth working for. Following them doesn't always mean you'll achieve them, more often then not they will change, but you will always break the expectations you have for yourself. I want to teach people that through my running, I want to teach people to chase their dreams.
