Growing up, I was always around sports and was familiar with many of them. This led me to play at least three sports year-round since and taught me to understand different types of coaches and help me become very coachable. With multiple sports throughout the year, I didn't always have time to make every practice, so I became self-disciplined in training on my own to ensure I didn't fall behind or lose my spot. My self-discipline helped me tremendously in my javelin career because I never had a coach, forcing me to use all my resources to better myself since my freshman year. It is very frustrating not having a coach; however, it also taught me to not complain and listen to every detail given by someone who knows about the sport because receiving coaching is a privilege that not everyone, including myself, have access to.
One of my main sources of motivation is not making it to state my sophomore year by one place (5th place). This loss motivated me in the offseason to not wait for the season to come around anymore and to attack javelin in the offseason during football and basketball. I also lost the state championship this year(junior) in football, pushing me to work hard for next year, which also benefits my javelin by building strength and speed/twitch muscles. I have a lot of room for improvement and will reach that with the coach I will receive, showing promising growth in my javelin skills in the near future.
