Personal Statement
I am a 5'9 1/2" junior, I weigh in at 170 pounds, I'm one of the shortest kids in my class, yet I am the most athletic. I've always dreamed of going to college to run track, ever since kindergarten when we only had the school track meet, I trained for it. As a freshman on my track team, I was the fastest sprinter, running a 12.0 100M. It upset me that I was fastest right away, because I didnt have anything to set for a goal, so the goal I set for myself went into my Long Jump, which was to break the school record by my Junior year, my Freshman year I jumped a 19' 3 3/4" improving from a 15' jump my 8th grade year. When practice comes around I am always there first, ready and willing to work, I push myself to the limit, doing what the coaches want me to without any complaint. My Sophomore year, since we didnt have any senior boys and our junior boys weren't willing to take the leadership role, I stepped up and took the name. Where I am from, track athletes don't really earn All-Conference or any awards like that, but I have placed at least 4th in every event I have done at my District Track meet, and I made it to State my Sophomore year in the Javelin and the 4X100M relay team. The Javelin was my first year throwing it, which made my coach happy that I could do something to better improve the team.
I would like to go to school in Montana, my home state, but I am open to go anywhere, and level of competition, if I am an improvement to the team and I can help it out I will push myself to my limits making it better. I am shooting for scholarships, and I will need financial aid, but I will find a way to get myself to school with or without either of those.
My goals are to be the best athlete I can be, and run an average time of 11.5 in the 100M, and get my Javelin up past 200'. My academic goals, I would like to finish school and become either a Sports Medicine doctor, a Massage Therapist, or possibly a Chiropractor.
All in all, I want to be a College Athlete and be proud of what I can accomplish in life and prove to people that no matter where you come from, anything is possible.
