2022 Spotlight
HOKA Postal Natio...Hunter Steele | Class of 2026 – 🥇 Nevada 5A Northern Regional Champion | 800m & 1600m Specialist
I’ve been racing since elementary school—on the track, in spikes, chasing PRs and competition. Through hundreds of races, running has shaped who I am: focused, resilient, and driven by the pursuit of progress. Whether pushing the pace in an 800m final or grinding out a solo tempo, I bring heart and intensity to every stride—and I’m excited to carry that passion into college athletics.
I compete for Galena High School in Reno, Nevada, where I’ve qualified for the Nevada State Championships each year in both Track and Cross Country. I’m currently ranked #6 in Nevada in the 800m with a PR of 1:53.81, and I’m proud to be the 2025 Northern 5A Regional Champion in both the 800m and 1600m. This season, I capped off my junior year as a Nike Outdoor Nationals All-American, running the 800m leg for our DMR team that placed 7th in the Championship Division.
In addition to competing in Track & Cross Country for GHS, I train and race year-round with my USATF club team, @Altitude, and have competed at both Nike Indoor and Outdoor Nationals, as well as the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships. While middle distance is my specialty, I bring range and versatility to the team—supporting relays, contributing in cross country, and building consistency through disciplined training and a team-first mindset.
Academically, I attend the Washoe County Signature Academy for STEM & Aerospace Engineering at Galena High School, where I hold a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a 4.675 weighted GPA. I plan to pursue a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with a long-term goal of combining creativity and innovation to solve real-world problems in the fields of energy and robotics.
Off the track, I’m working toward my Bareboat Cruising Certification through US Sailing. My family owns a 41' Jeanneau Sun Odyssey named Rabbit Hole, where I’ve developed skills in navigation, leadership, and risk management. Whether I’m racing on land or sailing offshore, I’m always learning to stay calm under pressure and adapt in real time.
I’m looking for a college where I can grow as a scholar, athlete, and teammate—somewhere I can chase big goals, push my limits, and be part of a culture built on respect, accountability, and shared ambition.
