Personal Statement
I am a proven all academic-athlete with aspirations of becoming a chemical or mechanical engineer while competing in the 400m hurdles, 100m open, and anywhere else a team needs my skills. My strong work ethic resonates in the classroom and on the track. I train to be better each day, to improve my athleticism on the track while preparing myself for the college classroom.
I have consistently maintained a 4.2 GPA or higher throughout high school. I have been a member of the National Honor Society and served on student council since junior high school. My current course load includes duel credit classes and AP courses geared toward jump starting my college career. This year I was selected to be a member of the highly competitive UmattR program which serves to help influence young minds in our area to stay away from drugs and alcohol. I am also a Big Brother in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Program.
I have been a valuable member of my high school track and field team, consistently proving to be a top competitor in our district and state in the 100m open, 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, long jump, and various relays. I have earned the high point award for my high school two years running. I hold the NM State USATF record in the 15-16 boys 400m hurdles.
I am able to not only motivate myself, but those around me. I feel that pulling others up, makes myself stronger. I am a role model for training hard, staying positive, and never accepting less than my best. I push those around me to be great. I hold myself to high standards in all areas of my life.
I am looking for a team to push me to be better than I am now; to ask me for everything I have and then a little bit more; for me to believe in and for them to believe in me. I am looking for a true track family.
