I have identified as a student athlete since I could first run, kick, dribble, throw, and catch. My speed, quickness, and overall athleticism allowed me to excel from the start at soccer, where I have been a member of the Garden City High School varsity team since my sophomore year, but over the last two seasons of both spring and winter track, I have realized that it is pure sprinting that I enjoy most. Whether I am on the field or on the track, I love the thrill of the physical competition. Beyond the physical, it is overcoming the mental challenges of competing in an individual sport that has helped me to grow as a student and a person, and I would love to continue this path and compete at the collegiate level.
I work hard year-round, whether it be spring or winter track, fall or summer soccer, or working out with my speed coaches outside of school. Although track is an individual sport, I very much enjoy the camaraderie of being part of a larger team. Working together toward common goals and supporting one another both on and off the track or field have given me some of my best experiences of my high school career. In the classroom I faced some early challenges in high school, but it was through athletics that I was able to draw the strength, perseverance, and focus to improve myself. I am looking for a fulfilling educational opportunity that will allow me to continue to grow as a person, a student, and an athlete, and push myself to compete at the highest levels I can attain in all three areas.
