My name is Jonathan Mahon and I’m part of the Class of 2021 at John Jay High School in Hopewell Junction, New York. I started my track and field career in 7th grade at Van Wyck Junior High, and it was at that time I realized that I had the potential to be a good runner (sprinter). Once I was in high school my coaches also saw that same potential. I have aspired to run at the collegiate level ever since and hoped one day to run in the Olympics for my country. I compete in NYS Section I, which has the largest high schools and a mix of the best athletes in New York High School Sports. I have obtained many gold and silver metals in my short high school career. I am looking forward to being challenged in the next step, which is a rewarding college career in both track and field and more importantly academically. I’m a hard worker both on the track and in the classroom, I always give 100% in everything I do.
Some accomplishments I’m proud of most include, qualifying for the 2019 and 2020 NY State Meet and National Championships and breaking my school records in the 55M, 200M, 300M, 400M, 4X2 and the 4x4 for 2019-20 indoor season. My Personal Records are 55M (6.61), 100M (11.55), 200M (22.31), 300M (34.94), 400M (49.70). The most amazing part of my track and field journey was going to the NYRR Millrose Games with my 4x4 team. I was also named the Team MVP for the past two years.
I currently have a GPA 3.5 and I was scheduled to take the SAT and ACT in March and April but unfortunately because of the COVID-19 virus the exams were rescheduled for a date TBD.
You can view my complete profile, including my highlight videos and academic stats on the NCSA link and also at MileSplitNY. And please feel free to contact my coach references.
I’m extremely interested to talk with coaches in learning more about their programs and schools.
