The first sport I had ever played was football, and immediately I discovered that I took well to running fast. I was introduced to track by my JV football coach as a way to stay in shape and instead I fell in love. I thought to myself, "Why can't I do that? What makes them so special?" People have always told me racing in college is like winning the lottery. I disagree. After an ACL and meniscus surgery followed by another meniscus surgery and being told I'll never amount to anything athletically, I have only improved. My track times were better, and my football stats increased post surgery. Winning the lottery is left up to chance, college track is up to me, and every person that has looked on in doubt has given me reason to work harder for what I love. However, I want to do more than just race my heart out. I want to acquire greatness in the classroom, in my community, and in my future career. Through one setback to the next, I've become what I am today. What I want to be in the future starts at the right college and on the right team.
