I began pole vaulting my freshman year of high school, which was around 3 years ago. I managed to compete and train without a coach for about 2 years and learned the sport myself. On my sophomore year we got a coach and with the training I received I jumped 1 1/2 feet higher than the previous year. I later on discovered a coach who trained most of the pole vaulters on the island and worked with him for only about 3 months and realized I needed to fix a lot in my jump. Towards the winter season of my junior year I jumped 10'6 ft, a new record for my junior year. I trained harder for about 2 weeks until the next meet and jumped a foot higher. The season ended and I placed 3rd in Suffolk County for Pole Vault. The spring season started within the first two meets I beat my record by 2 whole feet in under a months of training. When it comes to the sport I love, I work hard and nothing makes me happier than to beat my records and win meets for my team.
