Simon Walsh '24 Recruiting Profile

I love running. I've been running competitively for the last 7 years and love racing, the team dinners, the workouts in the pouring rain, and helping my team. My teammates and coaches are like family to me. They've made me a better person and a great leader. After 4 years of XC and 3 of Track, everyone knows that I will give my all to recruitment, lead warmups and workouts, take charge of set up and break down, and cheer for every runner. I've been both proud and humbled when athletes, families, and coaches have told me what a difference my efforts have made. My recruitment efforts also helped make our XC team the biggest in Oregon my junior and senior years. As a committed athlete who brings out the best in others, I'm one of the best leaders you could have on your team. 

This year, I plan to be sub-2:00 in the 800m and under 4:20 in the 1500m. For collegiate goals, I think low 1:50s for the 800m and a sub-4:00 for 1500m are both realistic. I'm looking for a competitive team that has a strong community where I can have a positive impact. 

I'd also like a school with rigorous academics as I plan to attend medical school. I'm proud of my success as a scholar athlete and plan to keep challenging myself in all areas of college. Thank you!
