My goals and aspirations for college are to obtain a higher level of learning so I can be successful, while advancing my athletic abilities. I want to become the best version of myself - by being the best I can at everything that I do.
Especially in track, I want to see how far I can push myself in all aspects/events. I want to see what my limits are, and learn to push past them.
What makes me a good candidate for your team is my willingness to learn and apply it to what I am doing (being coach-able). I am willing to constantly work on my skills and enjoy seeing improvement every day. I am also very supportive of my teammates, and find myself bringing up the tempo of the entire team!
The thing that makes me different from the other candidates is my adaptability and athletic perseverance. I have been an athlete and involved in sports from a very early age. From the age of four playing soccer and running in youth races, to gymnastics and baseball at 6, to football and basketball at 9 - I was always active. I ran in local races, ran up and down the basketball court, ran up and down the football field and now jumping and running around the track. I have had many injuries, but have learned to work through them and excel. As recently as last year I injured myself at the end of basketball season just as track was starting. I missed 3 weeks of practice and the first meet, but was able to compete at Penn Relays (4x400m) and at states (400m) – having my best PR’s to date. Even with only starting triple jump my junior year, I was able to place at leagues and districts. I attended the 5 day multi camp at Lehigh University this past July and received very positive feedback on my decathlon potential.
Although I have had limited time due to sports, I have done some volunteering in my local community and on youth sports teams which has been very rewarding. I would like to continue giving back as I continue through my college career.
