I have played sports since I was 4 years old including soccer and baseball. My passion for running began in seventh grade when I was cut from the school soccer team. Instead of feeling sorry for myself that fall season, I joined cross country and encountered surprising success. I then joined track and field in the spring and helped my 4x800 relay team break the school record, which we then broke again in eighth grade. I wasn’t quite ready to give up soccer and through determination and hard work, I made the high school soccer team in eighth and ninth grade. At the end of my freshman year track season, the track and cross country coaches both approached me and asked me to commit full time to running, as they felt I would be a valuable asset to their teams. I took their advice and have never regretted my decision.
Last year as a sophomore, I had the honor of competing in the State Championships for cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. So far in my junior year, our cross country team placed first in WPIAL’s and fourth in the PIAA State Championships.
I want to continue my running career at the college level. As a student athlete in both cross country and track and field, my first priority has always been academics. I have a rigorous class schedule which includes all AP, CHS, and Honors level courses while maintaining a 4.92 weighted GPA and a 3.92 unweighted GPA. I plan to pursue a degree in engineering.
I not only strive for individual success and improvement, but also the success of my team as a whole and I know I would be a valuable asset to any college team.
