For as long as I can remember, I have been involved in various sports (baseball, basketball, soccer, etc), but running has always been at the core of my athletic endeavors. When I was very young, I entered a number of 5k races, which I enjoyed. Once I entered Junior High, track became my focus. As a 7th grader, I began to concentrate specifically on distance and middle distance events, having much success along the way. Then, in high school, I truly began to train consistently and year-round. Though I still play, and very much enjoy, high school soccer, running is something that has always been a passion in my life.
Near the end of my Sophomore year, I began to make greater strides in track and started to come into my own. It was at that time that my dad and uncle suggested that I connect with a local coach to get more in-depth and steady training. The summer after my sophomore year, I began to workout under the guidance of Mr. Joseph Muldowney. Mr. Muldowney is a recently retired teacher, an avid runner (the veteran of over fifty marathons, including sixteen Boston Marathons), an Author, and a personal running coach on Fiverr.com. He is also the Men’s and Women’s cross country coach at Penn State Schuylkill Campus, where he has trained numerous athletes.
As a result of my training, I lowered my 1600 time to 4:33, which was good for 7th place at the District 11 Championship meet. Also, I finished 3rd at leagues, a mere 1.5 seconds behind the winning runner. I have also had much success at a number of invitational meets.
Anyone who knows me can tell you that I am an extremely dedicated athlete, always striving to improve, and always trying to lead by example. I am very coachable, and I doubt that you will recruit any runner who trains more enthusiastically than I do.
Academically, I am a very good student, and my current GPA is 3.5 (out of 4.0). I also hold a part-time job, and I am involved in a number of service organizations at school.
When I attend college, I fully intend to excel both in the classroom and on the track. At this point, I am looking at all of the options, seeking to locate an ideal college match at the highest level of competition available. Ultimately, I hope to graduate with the education, experience, and skills that will enable me to be a positive role model and a person who makes my family very proud.
