Diego Long Jump (...Ever since I was young my parents said I was a kid that liked to jump around. When I heard about jumping in track, I knew that it was the sport for me. By the end of my sophomore year, I knew this would be the sport that I would want to pursue in college. I am aware that pursuing a sport in college is difficult, but I am comfortable with being out of my comfort zone.
I have a strong mindset, a strong work ethic, and I know how to set goals for myself and achieve them. As a junior, I am currently a captain of my school's track team. I lead by example and help my teammates out by giving friendly advice. I work year-round with my coach who gives me specialized workouts to assist my power and form.
I work hard in academics as well. I am currently taking 5 IB classes and I maintain a 4.0 weighted GPA despite my athletics. I volunteer as well, this year I worked with special olympics and tutoring underclassmen.
I want to make myself the best version of me possible. In order to this, I know that pursuing track in a competitive college while also pursuing a degree in engineering is the way to do it. My mom has always said that she wants her kids to be the role models in everything they do, and I would like to make her proud.
