Gregory McDade 20...I did not think about becoming a collegiate track and field athlete until a few years ago because I was still in that stage of finding what I was good at or what I loved doing. When I first went to the AAU Junior Olympics in 2012 I found that I was good enough to do this forever. Since then I have also qualified for the Junior Olympics in 2013 and 2014. Even in practice I aspire to work hard and learn something new at every practice. I love to joke with my coaches, but when it comes to the actual running I am serious. My coaches encourage me to keep going and work harder, especially when I am tired. I will always do what is best for the team as I have done al throughout my high school career at Hyde Park High School and my summer career with Central Texas Elite. This past year at Hyde Park I led a 4x400 meter relay to a new school record, and this coming year am on track to set school records in the 200m, the 400m, the 800m, and the 1600m. I not only challenge myself in athletics, but also in classes by taking as many AP classes as possible that I need to pursue my preferred profession of Physical Therapy. The mechanics of the human body interest me as I want to stay as injury free as possible. Track season gives me time to put to practice what I learn in class to run more efficiently and make adjustments as needed.
